"A Lonely Cow Weeps At Dawn" Review

Synopsis: A young widow, Noriko, lives with her senile father-in-law, Shukichi, on a farm. He believes his favorite cow, long gone, is still alive. Noriko pretends to be the cow and lets him milk her – a satisfying arrangement for them both. Shukichi’s daughter discovers their bizarre relationship and tries to put an end to it.

Review: When it comes to Asian cinema I am more familiar with their horror and satire films than I am with their erotic films. This film is my first peek into Asian erotic cinema but for me as much as this film did have alot of sexual content in it I also found at the core of it that it had some heart to it. As it states in the synopsis above this film mainly surrounds an older man who has started to go senile and his young widowed daughter inlaw and it shows are real connection between them and at times is touching even if it has her making the sound of a cow to make him feel better after he has been beaten up. Now it was odd at first because I thought the older man truly knew that he was milking a woman and not a cow but soon enough I learned that he actually thought it was his favorite cow that died some time back. Overall I found this film to be quite enjoyable and would highly recommend it to anybody who is interested in getting a film with the right amount of heart and also a good dose of eroticism.
